In the fixture's inaugural season, Ex Mancs secured a thrilling 4-3 victory to take the first ever Ex Mancs vs Ex Lats title. Some say that Ex Lats were the better side, some say it was Ex Mancs' destiny, others probably don't know what you're talking about. One thing was for sure though, the Ex Lats were out for revenge.
In Ex Mancs vs Ex Lats II they got that revenge, another 4-3 thriller, this time with the score reversed. Now it was the Ex Mancs' turn to claim an unjust scoreline. All the talk and analysis ultimately meant nothing. It was 1-1 in the series, 7-7 on goals, all square, 50-50.
The third installment of the Cup featured an actual trophy for the first time so all was to play for. Ex Lats were without Sprunt & Cullum but welcomed back Holmes to the side after last year's absence. Ex Mancs handed debuts to Joe Thorne & Olly Baskerville and had Nicholls returning to the side to replace Gazz Jones, Matt Wood & Danny McShane.
Right from the word go the Ex Lats had the bit between their teeth and went ahead early yet again as referee Munroe pointed to the spot for a handball. The decision proved controversial in the Ex Mancs camp but it made no difference as Q-W slotted home for 1-0.
One goal quickly became two as Q-W raced down the left wing to fire in a dangerous cross that Paddy Browne could only help into his own net under severe pressure. 2-0 to the Ex Lats at HT and the Ex Mancs had it all to do.
The Ex Mancs needed a response in the second half and they got it when Wil Jones scored a well placed curling effort to reduce the deficit to 2-1. It was the Ex Mancs' best period of the game but it didn't last. Winter caught the Ex Mancs asleep from a quick free-kick and fired into the top corner for 3-1. More Ex Manc protests followed but to no avail.
The goals didn't stop there for the Ex Lats. Quelch-Woolls added his second with a smart low finish and Pinn headed in the 5th. 5-1 now the scoreline, the Ex Mancs in disarray. Nicholls did manage to salvage some pride with a late strike but the Ex Lats ultimately cruised to a 5-2 win and the third title.
